Definition updated on November 2023

What is identity and access management?

The cybersecurity field of identity and access management (IAM) is concerned with controlling user identities and network access privileges. The aim of any IAM endeavor is to make sure that the correct individuals and devices may access the right resources for the right reasons at the right time, despite the fact that IAM policies, methods, and technologies can vary between businesses.
