What are HTTP Headers?

During HTTP requests and responses, the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) header, a component of HTTP, transmits additional data. The HTTP header is used by the server and the browser to share metadata about the document in addition to the data that is sent to the browser by the web server of the called website.
