Patent Filings

Definition updated on November 2023

What are patent filings?

In order to obtain legal protection for an idea or invention, the formal procedure of filing a patent application with a patent office is referred to as "patent filing." By giving people credit for their ideas and the chance to receive financial compensation for their innovations, patents encourage innovation and safeguard inventors. A patent gives you the power to prevent others from making, selling, importing, or duplicating your innovation without your consent.
